You guys have always served me well so here is what I am looking for:

Friends 40th birthday, 10-15 people not too expensive, uptown as we are going out afterwards.

Some ideas are:

Mimosa Grill (although it is a bit more $$ than some people will want to spend though)
Arpos (Tapas are always fun but this one does not have very good reviews but it is the only one uptown)
Dandelion market - not Tapas per se but "small plates" so same idea and it does have good reviews

Any other suggestions? I have to get this booked tomorrow as I am leaving for vacation for almost two weeks and I'd like to make reservations (which might already prove to be a problem)

Another idea is to eat elsewhere then head uptown for the nightlife. So while we prefer to eat uptown, if I have trouble booking something I will need some options.

Basil Thai has excellent reviews and I know the birthday girl LOVES Thai, but her husband doesn't and some of the others. Not sure if I should just say screw them as it is HER birthday!

Thanks!

Give BluPrint a try. Here's their menu, it will not break your wallet. I can't rave enough about their food. Their small plates can be shared, you can get full ordering just appetizers. Breakfast is great as well.

If by Arpos you mean Arpa, they're closed . If you don't mind being just outside of uptown, try Good Food on Montford, or 300 East in Dilworth.

I really like Dandelion Market. It's got a great uptown atmosphere and not expensive at all. I find Mimosa to be kind of banky banky/fuddy duddy for non-work related dinners.

Vida at the Epicenter would be not bad for a big group.
