Indoor activities with visiting kids (ages 9 and 14) around Southpark or uptown?
We have visiting kids coming, ages 9 (girl) and 14 (boy). The plan was to go to the whitewater center but it looks like the weather will be bad tomorrow.
Any other ideas? We were thinking Discovery Place might be fun.
Thanks.

An IMAX would work. Also, there is a 130 showing of "Cars 2" at Epicentre Theaters tomorrow. Just make sure you go to any showings before 6pm (21 and up only in the evenings). Strike City is yet another option. Again, get there before the evening crowd. FWIW, I've taken my 8 year old son to Strike City quite a few times and he loves it (though it is expensive; certainly not an everyday treat). FYI, make sure you use the bumpers for the inexperienced bowlers.
There's also Ray's Splash Planet (another favorite of my 8 year old). They have a decent slide and a small lazy river. The price is not bad for a Meck county resident (owned by the county park and rec so Meck residents get a discount). There's also Imaginon. You can see their events for tomorrow in the link below...
Schedule of Events
Last but not least, get those kids some ice cream at Cold Stone. They'll need it because just Discovery Place and Ray's Splash planet alone will take up nearly 4-5 hours.

ImaginOn is another good place, especially because it's free. It's got activities for both kids and teens that are educational but entertaining as well and with the age span between the two kids, this might be a good option for you. Here's a link to everything they offer: IMAGINON: PROGRAMS & EVENTS.
I also always recommend Charlotte Events, Concerts & Festivals - Weekend10.com as they provide a full listing of family-friendly events in Charlotte NC and surrounding areas every weekend.
Hope that helps!
