This has been a growing problem for the last 5 years and I find it very disturbing.

From what I understand, hits are very cheap and access not at all limited, so many middle class teens are getting addicted to it

It is very easily accessible and VERY addicting.

The girl that has been robbing the cell phone stores, I read was doing so to help support her habits.

Yeah, Tricky Dicky's (Nixon) "War on Drugs" is almost 45 years old now. Results are pretty much like all our other wars these days.

I can't figure out what the problem is . . . why people would even want to try these substances. I realize most kids are gonna do some experimenting. Maybe if marijuana were legalized, they would just experiement with that and not meth and heroin. Or not . . .

What occurs in Europe? Are drugs not a problem there?

Our private prisons are big money... They're filled with non-violent drug offenders.

Strong lobby doesn't want that gravy train to end.

Well, that is awful. Prisons should be for those who need time out from society. People w/ drug addiction need rehab, not imprisonment. I didn't realize private prisons were that big of an industry. Is that at the federal level?

I agree. They simply need to eliminate all possession laws. The USA treats addition with criminal charges.

The USA has 5% of the world's population but 25% of the world's prisoners. Law enforcement and human warehousing have become very big business with lots of lobbyists.
