I was wondering the same thing last night, although on the other side of town (Mint Hill). I had to go coax the dog out from under the deck so I could go to bed

Probably still fireworks from these dumb a**es who think celebrating the 4th means blowing stuff up for a few weeks. I still hear them going off in Matthews near Mint Hill.

A gunshot sounds much different than a firecracker, IMO. Also, gunshots are often followed with screaming or yelling.

Guns go "pop" "pop" "pop". Fireworks go "bang".
