Charlotte is often described as the 2nd largest banking city of the USA based on the fact that BofA and Wells Fargo (really Wachovia aka First Union) is HQ'd here. well, more or less. Who cares.

More importantly, most don't know that.....

Charlotte is the Pimento Cheese capital of the world. There are 50,000 cups of it produced in the city each week, and this doesn't count those who make it themselves. If you don't know what Pimento Cheese is then please find out.

I thought I would let you know this in case you didn't know.

I do mean the whole world BTW. Until NASA finds some aliens, it might be the entire Universe. Think about it.

Do you know what kinds are made here? I am always looking to try a new Pimiento Cheese.

Augusta's is my favorite right now and it is made here.

I haven't found any better than Augusta's! Have you tried to make your own? I've made it before and it was pretty good. We have a bunch of ripe jalepenos right now, so I may try to make a spicy batch.

I have heard that Laurel Market makes a good one, too. I need to head over there as I will travel for a good PC.

I do make my own sometimes, too. I also have some jalapenos. Good idea! I just need to find some proportions.

Timely thread--my son just got a summer job hawking pimento cheese in grocery stores. He hands out free samples and flirts with all the women. His first day he brought home the leftovers--two large containers of regular and jalapeno. It's very good, but it would take us a month to eat all that!
