Transplants: Have you come across discrimmination in Charlotte?
I have heard there is, and coming from a liberal place like Los Angeles it's something that would want to make me pack my bags and go home! Please advise...

Yeah, we had it all worked out in LA didn't we? Riots, turf wars, etc....
LA is not liberal in the sense of "everyone welcome and everyone will feel at home." It might be liberal politically overall, but racial issues have and will always be a problem in LA.

Granted i have only been here 3 1/2 months, but I have not felt any issues. Coming from LA myself. I am sure there are people that are unexcepting but I haven't seen it yet.

Glad to hear. I spoke to someone over the border in SC and she said she hears the 'N' word several times a week. That freaked me out. Are there really still people like that out there??? And if so I hope we never cross paths...

If I could deliver flowers over the internet, you'd get them today...
Dawn has stated the practical and the obvious. Very good point. No major metro is without issues.

It's one thing to have racial tensions in a big urban metropolis, it's quite another to go around using the 'N' word. Yes, LA has 'gangs' but not nearly to the extend the media and movies would make it out to be. I actually think LA is a VERY welcoming place to everyone, no matter what race, religion or color. This is one of the biggest meltitng pots in the US, and that's part of what I love about it.

Why are you considering relocating then? Not trying to be rude, just curious. Liz
