HI... I just moved to Concord.. I am looking for a daycare for my 3 yr old son. I have looked at some but would like some more recommendations. Also am looking for a gym. Again I have looked at some but would like more input. Any suggestions would be appreciated..

If you want a more expensive gym, choose Sports Center near Carolina Mall. If you want less expensive, choose ZX Fitness on Hwy 29 near Walmart or the Y. The Y is near/in Afton Village not too far from the Target store. There might be another gym in the Target shopping center.....also check out Copperfield Plaza near the UPS Store for another gym.

Daycares...How about La Petite Academy? There are several churches with day cares as well. It would be nice to have one you like that is on your way to work. Well, unless you're just looking for a mother's morning out situation. There's a Montessori school in the University area if you are interested.

My husband and I belong to the Sport Center in Concord and absolutely love it! We used to belong to the YMCA, and it was okay, but are happier with the SC. Both are about the same price, somewhere around $75/month total for both of us.

YMCA offers: more kids programs, indoor kids pool, larger lap pool, slightly nicer locker rooms, more religious-based programing, small indoor climbing wall

Sports Center offers: outdoor pool, dedicated Spin rooms, more lap pool availability (no HS swim teams practicing), more variety of group classes, newer treadmills/cardio, more weight machines, less religious-based programing, racquetball courts, tennis balls courts (tennis costs extra), later hours, towel service

There are other gyms in the area, however most of them are in strip malls and are just cardio/weights without pools, courts, etc.
