Default Crime in Neighborhoods

My real estate agent sent me some listings in north Charlotte and I found several that looked very nice. She also suggested using the crime statistic feature on the Charlotte Police Department website to check out a neighborhood.

I looked up the address of the house I was most interested in. It was a nice newer home. This is what came back. Within a half-mile radius, there were 4 Residential Burglary, 3 Non-aggravated Assault, 2 Auto Theft, and 1 Larceny - Other, in the month of June.

I'm looking for real estate in Charlotte so as to avoid a commute, which seems to be about an hour (from what I read in another thread) if you live outside of the city. Which is only going to get worse, of course, in the future. I will most likely be working in uptown Charlotte. My price range is around 100 to 125K. Not much, I know, but that's what it is.

I guess I'm wondering what is "normal" for a "safe" neighborhood. Are there any in my price range? Or should I really be looking outside of town and put up with the commute?!?!

Cheryl,

While it prob. is still possible to get in Charlotte for 100-125K I think it would more than likely in a less than desirable neighborhood. The otherside to this is that property around Charlotte (Uptown) is being snapped up pretty quick so in the long run you may make out pretty good.
