Default Vegetable gardening in NC - online resources

Have lived just north of Charlotte for almost 3 years now (from the midwest) and this summer became part of a 5 family vegetable garden. My family has decided next year to go solo, and put in a garden in our own yard. Found out one of the families has been raiding the garden on a daily basis and dispersing tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant etc to all their neighbors, with the 4 remaining families wondering why the yield was so low.

To the point....I am looking for online gardening resources that has the ABC's of gardening in North Carolina. Have done various searches and they seem geared to someone who already knows the in's and out's of basic gardening. I became an expert at weeding, not the garden itself. The know how behind the garden this year came from the guy who was so generous to his neighbors.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Welcome to the wonderful world of gardening. I have been in Charlotte about the same time and on the Charlotte forum there are a few really good threads about specific tips for gardening. If you search the forum for "Gardening and landscaping" you will find them. Here is one Landscaping & gardening tips for newcomers to the Charlotte area - Part 3 The other source actually was the Garden board, people here are very knowledgeable and very helpful. The one source that I have been enjoying is YouTube, just type what you want to learn about and you will find a long list of clips of people doing different things. I just learned couple tips on how to protect zucchini plants from the zucchini borer, which I had never known about without the help of this board. When I started gardening, I just started with seedlings and put them in the ground. I started with couple pots but now have a couple flower and veggies beds. Of course google can help and books from the library. Good luck.
