I currently live in Florida and would love to move to NC. Considering both Charlotte and Raleigh. I'm single and in my mid 30s and have read that Raleigh has a higher single population but younger due to all the universities. I've also heard that Charlotte is more family oriented. Can anyone who has *recently* been single/is still single and therefore would be more in touch with that scene tell me what their take is? I'd really like some feedback as I'm searching for jobs in both cities but would like to narrow the scope. Thanks.

There are a lot of other recent topics on this exact topic, none of which, as I recall, says much of anythng good. You might want to read through them.

Both cities are family oriented actually. Based on knowing people in both places, I'd say Raleigh is more single oriented for the early-20s crowd because of the universities there. Charlotte is more late 20s-mid-30s range. Though there is plenty in the early 20s too. I'm actually in my mid-30s (but married), however most of my friends in Charlotte are single and around the same age. Most of them enjoy their single life in Charlotte. I know they stay busy with various activities from going to shows, adult rec activities, sporting events and the like. Your best bet is probably to check them both out before making a decision. You will probably find a lot of similarities.
