When our op started this thread she said "ok, this is NOT the thread (nor the place) for any heated politcal debates, so let's not go there." Many who posted in reponse managed to answer her question and avoid debate, so I do hope she feels she's had her question answered.
As I previously pointed out, MarvinNative gave great advice on getting actual numbers and kinds of voters and ManofBess summed up the political situation in NC pretty well.
It serves no useful purpose for posters to hurl insults at one another just because of a difference in opinion. Being able to respond to one another without resorting to insults or insinuations would be an act of true tolerance, don't you think?
