I love it when someone actually posts "let's not get into a heated debate...."
My Mom always told me never to discuss the "3's" ...Sex, Politics. Religion.
Isn't it ironic you almost can never have a discussion on any one of these topics without them beinging tangled some way?
God Bless America and which ever way you choose to vote; it's a born given right in this country and it's a shame some don't exersise it.

oh boy - you've hit the jackpot - i only hope that your "2 kids" don't grow up bigoted like you...1st of all, no one i have ever met is PRO-abortion...they may be pro-choice as it is a private personal matter...but no one i ever met, nor you, has ever professed to be pro-abortion. 2ndly, why would you restrict the rights of people because of a skin-color, nationality, religious affiliation, or sexual preference? (only reason would be because you're a bigot)...

please tell me, from the above definition, why it would be bad to be "liberal"
maximum individual freedoms...sounds good to me...

by the way - in answer to the original question, in 15 months, i have met 1 person that wasn't a "righty" and he was a parrot-head <see jimmy buffet>

Charlotte-Mecklenburg is a mixture of blue and red.
Once you step outside the county line though, it's all red.
Charlotte seems to have a stronger Republican voice than other larger cities.
As I've said in the past, I don't care who you are, where you're from, what you vote. Just don't drive crazily around me and I'll still love ya!

You are off topic. This is not the place for heated debate - this is a place for people to ask for and receive or to give useful information. Take this argument somewhere else please

I'm glad the thread hasn't led to any personal attacks.
To answer the original question I am a conservative Republican..

I think this really sums it up and should answer the op's question. Now hopefully we can all move along, nothing else to see here!

I'll echo what the voices of reason have said, in that NC is red, closer to the cities generally bleed blue. Not one Democrat won a seat in the votes out of Union County at the local, state, or national level. This is just an observation so please don't take it the wrong way, but I with the influx of yankees and west coasters the area is getting more liberal.
With that said, I am increasingly finding it harder to hold an intelligent conversation about politics/current events because more and more people know more about Britney Spears than what these communist and Islamic wackos are threatening to do to our country. It's very sad. We (general use) are raising a bunch of Hollywood wannabees instead of leaders. I guess this is just the direction the world is headed, so it is what it is.
FWIW, I used to be a Republican, and I guess I will be until just after the primaries. I now consider myself merely a conservative because moderates/centrists have hijacked the the GOP. At the same time, socialists have hijacked the DNC, which is not the Democratic party of the 1960s. Likewise, there is no more a Reagan Republican party. I will likely not vote for a president in 2008.

Perhaps you should read what Lovethemountains said in response to: Northern Cli to Charlotte, asking about environmental and vegan aspects of Charlotte, saying they had "leftist leaning" political views. OH-MY-GOD. That response alone from Lovethemountains has ME seriously reconsidering relocatting if that is the closed-minded, conservative attitudes found there. To compare someone's liberal leanings saying it might as well be communistic is just plain conservative ignorance.
Here's the response from Lovethemountains:
Honestly, I am not trying to be rude or unfriendly, I just don't think you would find what you are looking for here. This is the Bible Belt and fairly conservative, though to me not oppressively so. You however, would most likely find it a hard place to adjust to. Like I said, there are liberals here, and both groups of people coexist pretty well. But leftist views are a whole other level. And personally, as open minded as I really try to be, for me this would be like telling the Communist Party to move on in and make themselves at home - and I just could not do that.
