To compare someone's liberal leanings saying it might as well be communistic is just plain conservative ignorance.
Here's the response from Lovethemountains:
Honestly, I am not trying to be rude or unfriendly, I just don't think you would find what you are looking for here. This is the Bible Belt and fairly conservative, though to me not oppressively so. You however, would most likely find it a hard place to adjust to. Like I said, there are liberals here, and both groups of people coexist pretty well. But leftist views are a whole other level. And personally, as open minded as I really try to be, for me this would be like telling the Communist Party to move on in and make themselves at home - and I just could not do that.

Oh, and I forgot this classic one from LOVESMOUNTAINS as well.
"My personal views aren't the point. I detest ANY extremes in political thought."
Harding123, this is what you call one of "the most open-minded people?" I'm sure LOVESMOUNTAINS is a nice decent person, but open-minded????
THan aagain, what do I know. I just another one of those wacky 'liberal nuts."

so in a message that asks about political leanings, lovethemountians doesnt think we should respond to, but in a question about vegans, mentions religion and the conservatives.....hypocritical i think....
====
and carolinaguy, i think you hit the nail on the head - the parties are not what they used to be...and everyone only cares about brittney, paris, the girl in aruba, oj, et al....
it 's a sad state of affairs....
too bad a 3rd (centrist party) couldn't make it....
even though they'd be in the majority, the D's and R's would use all their money to fight it....

Since you have so recently joined us here, you really don't yet know what any of us regulars are about. Please switch to the other thread and don't hijack this one. I will be happy to address your comments there

Voter Registration Statistics
If you go to the local Board of Election website, you can access a Statistics page that gives you the current voter registration statistics (by precinct, party, race, sex, etc.) For example, here is the link to Union County's page:
http://www.co.union.nc.us/LinkClick....id=171&mid=979
If you were particularly looking at the Marvin Precincts (28Y & 28Z), maybe that would give you a sense of what you want to know.

not that she needs it, but in defense of LMs comment on the vegan thread, which I haven't read yet, it is true that vegans (or let's just say earth people, no harm intended) will likely have a hard time adjusting to Charlotte. They would feel much more comfortable in Asheville or Boone, which are both mountain towns and have a more hippy, environmentalist atmosphere. If you are one that can adjust and co exist with even us righteous conservatives , then you will be fine in Charlotte.

Thanks C-G, that was part of what I was trying to convey to that poster. (On this thread http://www.city-data.com/forum/charl...-friendly.html)
As for the op of THIS thread I believe MarvinNative has given her good advice, and ManofBess summed up the situation perfectly.

Blah, that just goes to prove my point, what a bunch of knuckle heads in Meck county!!! Just one more reason I am taking my family back to the Greatest state in the Nation <---IMHO---> TEXAS!!!
Stuck with Bush II? Are you eating paint chips? You had better Thank God, and yes I mean the one and only God the Father, that GB was elected another term...My how I would have loved to have seen Kerry fall flat on his butt, of course we don't have the luxury of that idiot playing games like Clinton did...
I'll be the first to admit that I don't agree with every thing Republican, nor do I agree with everything Bush has done, but I am forced to choose the lesser of two evils and that is what I do....
Oh, and just for the record, I love America!! I have served my Country in the Armed Forces!! You have the right to be as Rich or as Poor as you want to be...So why do the DemocRATS feel that they can give my hard earned dollar to every boarder jumping, poor white trash, or black trash mamma over kid bearing, hump de hump that comes down the pipe??? Oh no, we don't want to go there do we??
I'm Done...
