Default How is Charlotte for folks who are allergy sufferers?

Folks,

When I lived in Atlanta, I suffered really bad allergies, in fact, I did not have allergies until I lived in Atlanta. How is the allergy season in Charlotte and is it similar to an Atlanta? Looking forward to hearing from you all about any allergies in Charlotte.

I had very bad allergies before moving to Charlotte. I have been here for about 3 months and I have not had one problem. I am skeptical cause this is very strange for me to not have allergies....I am sure I missed the time of year when it is bad.

It is usually ranked in the top 10 cities in the US for worst allergies. Spring is the worst when this yellowish green substabce known aspollen changes the color of the area. Our trees are being destroyed, my cars are on our roads, and we have both tree and grass pollen as well mildew/mold etc. Most people with allergies end up staying indoors, taking a lot of meds, or being miserable. September, next to April/May is a bad month for allergens too.

My husband has never had allergy symptoms, untill we moved to Charlotte. Springtime was the worst. We had to keep our doors and windows closed, although the air outside was nice and cool. Once the pollen was gone, he recovered.

It really depends on WHAT you are allergic to. I grew up in this area and yes, I have seasonal allergies, but I suffered far worse when I went to the west coast than I ever did here. Seems there is something out there I am far more allergic to than I am here. Liz

I think it also depends on what you are used to. If you are used to the types of pollens and such I don't guess you would suffer as much as if you aren't.
