Closest to Charlotte would be Gastonia and the Clover/York county areas. I'd also include Indianland and parts north of the city. Outside of the metro, it's pretty even coverage.

Why do you ask?

Are you looking for quality or quantity?

If it's quality of the negative perception of redneck, I'd give my vote to northern Cleveland County. I've seen quite a few acting out in Shelby, much to the chagrin of all of the natives in the area. (They're easy to identify, because they usually are wearing an item of clothing with a specific high school name on it (regardless of their age).) On the other hand, there's an area in northern Gaston County that seems to provide a close runner up, when I'm in Gastonia. I have no clue from personal experience but would expect that the same would hold true for far-flung areas of every county on your map except Mecklenburg.

Define 'redneck'.

I was recently at a Wal-Mart in western Maine and the customers there looked just like the customers at any rural Wal-mart in the South, they just talked different.

I'm about to leave to visit my family in SE Columbus, Ohio. They could give Southern rednecks a run for their money any day, though there is a difference in attitude and politics.
