Does anyone have any suggestions of a good reliable company for flooring (laminate) and/or carpet? Price is obviously a factor too.
If anyone has experience with some of these companies; any suggestions or suggestions of who to stay away from would be great.
Carolina Carpet One just installed some carpet for me...it looks great so far. And I was really happy with the job. So was my wife, which can be a challenge in itself.
Just got new carpeting with University Flooring. Small operations with low overhead and good prices. Also, offered 12 months same a cash with good credit. Did a good job and were easy to work with.
Great company and great work. Friendly staff, wonderful showroom, and they even mailed us large samples (several) for us to put down on our floors at home to decide on colors and types.
Thank you for the suggestions. One other thing, we were thinking of getting laminate and carpet (we have two dogs). Anyone have laminate and love it or hate it or otherwise?
My concerns with laminate:
-laminate popping up and coming up as you walk on it and/or creaking
-if any water or liquid gets on the laminate and damages it
-long term durability
-how easily it scratches
Are the newer laminates better, do they hold up better? The reason I ask is after googling about laminates I found some people displeased with laminates in the past (05-08).
I love my laminate (looks like wood). I haven't noticed any damage/scratching. To me- it looks the same as it did in 2007! I want to take out all our carpet and replace with laminate. But, my parents have a different type of laminate (even more real/wood looking) and they have some nasty scratches on it and it is not even 1 yr old. I guess do your homework and reserach the brands/warranties, etc. And- we do have some small spaces between the floor boards- but nothing major.
We have laminate in our downstairs family room and dining room. We love it. My husband installed it himself ( and he's not a big DIY kind of guy). It was from Armstrong and is the type that is installed one plank at a time which I think looks more like real wood. We even used real wood trim in the doorways and around our fireplace stained to match it and it looks the same.
