Mecklinburg County doesn't, but Cabarrus Co. (NE of Charlotte) and Iredell Co. (north) does. Iredell's fair also consists of a very nice hot air ballon rally. We've gone before and love it

Well that a stinker on Mecklenburg. Metrolina expo would be a ok location. Small but ok for a fair especially with all the horses in the area.

At the Iredell one can people ride the balloons who attend the fair?

Out of Iredell, Cabbarus, and Lincoln County who has the better county fair?

Thanks

I'm not sure if York and Lancaster Counties have one. My guess is no. I've lived here all of my life and the only counties in the area I've heard of having one is Cabarrus, Iredell, and Cleveland. Lincoln might have one, I'm just not familiar with it.

Back when we went to Iredell the last time ('03 I think), only the balloon owners rode in them. There were MANY balloons (15-20) of different types of sizes, shapes, and themes. It seemed to be some sort of competition. Both Cabarrus and Iredell put on good fairs, but my family and I like Iredell's the best. Cabarrus' is good, has a lot of rides, and has good food vendors. But Iredell's just had a more relaxed feel, lots of animals/petting area, and the balloons. We brought our lawn chairs out when the balloons went up. We'll probably go back again this fall.

A great fair is the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem. I believe that it is the second largest fair in the state.

If you don't mind a couple hours drive, the State Fair in Raleigh is a lot of fun. It's held in the fall every year. This year it's Oct 12-21st.
North Carolina State Fair ~ seriously twisted fun! (http://www.ncstatefair.org/2007a/ - broken link)
