I've been to Uncle Sonny's and the Water Ice Factory. Both are pretty good! Uncle Sonny's has their ices shipped in from NY, so it's the standard, scoopable ices that you'd be used to from up north. Water Ice Factory is Philly-style water ice, so it's more like a slush than a NY style italian ice (more like Rita's than Ralph's). I think the Water Ice Factory ices taste a little better than Uncle Sonny's, but either one is worth a try.
Rita's will open in Mooresville right behind the new Chili's on 150. There's a banner hanging in front of their future spot.
Hot summer day.....Rita's Lemon ice mixed w/ a lil Absolute......Bendy straw.....few good friends...... you get the picture. Watermelon flavor and Absolute takes a close second. My friends like mango and tequila, but I say tequila is NOT your friend. Sorry, was this why we were talking about italian ice.
Have you tried Carly's Italian Ice yet?? DELICIOUS!! Smooth & creamy, like the real Italian ices I remember having as a kid in da' Bronx! They have pushcarts in locations...one's in Charlotte Knights Stadium & one is coming to Birkdale's.
