AMC Concord for me as well. Go during the day, during the week, and it's only $5. Go to the Only A Dollar before hand and buy the same candy for $ that they charge $5 plus for at the theater as well as drinks.

A family of 3 can go to the movies with drinks and snacks for less than $25.

Go on a weekend or of the evening and buy everything at the theater and spend $60 easy.

I like to sneak snacks for Dean and Deluca into Phillips Place too. Then my friends and I go to Dean and Deluca wine bar after the movie to discuss it.

The wife and I usually go to the AMC at the Concord Mills Mall. We will catch a movie on Sundays before noon so that the theaters are not crowded and you only have to pay $5 a person. We have never had a problem with loud patron's when going at that time.

On a side note: AMC has started to charge $12/year for their movie club.

I ended up going to Phillips Place with friends Sunday night to watch Apollo 18. I had been there before but this time was different in that we waited in line for about 25-30 minutes and the theater we were in was laid out differently than the last one I was in. No big deal, the patrons were well behaved and theater was clean as usual.

I'm with Pantherfan101. Ballantyne Village is my favorite. Have almost never seen it packed, and I don't get how it stays in business.

A few summers back they did a 70's/80's film festival on weekends. We saw Raiders of the Lost Ark and JAWS there that summer. That's the only time I've ever seen it packed to the gills, and it was so much fun! (Loved the 40 y/o guy - thankfully in pretty good shape, who had POURED himself into his childhood JAWS t-shirt for the event.) I've often wondered why they haven't continued the tradition.

Curious, what is the unique seating layout?

the Gem theater in Kannapolis, it 's a unique venue. they have 1 screen and an enormous seating area and also a balcony. they always get a first run movie and the prices are great.

$3 admision for Matinee and I think $5 in the evening for adults. candy bars cost $1, soda 2-3 dollars and 2-3 dollars for popcorn

they don't air anything harder then PG-13. so mostly family type movies.

also when the recession 1st hit, whatever movie the Gem was showing that week they showed it for free on Wednesday night, in an effort to help the community, they ran a free movie every Wednesday for about 3 months.

we love the Gem and they always draw a good crowd.

Agree, the Gem theater is great! I just wish they'd show some non-kids movies sometimes in the evening.

Film fest is coming up in a couple weeks though, we went last year & had a great time!

I go to Aboreteum theatres. It's nice. Nothing special, but I have no issues.
