A friend at work just moved down here and is looking at moving to Shannamara.

Anyway, does anyone know anything about it? Pos? Neg?

I really didn't have any info for him, but it seems like a nice place by looking online.

I drive past it all the time on my way to the nearby Harris Teeter. It looks lovely, great pool with twisty slide (my daughter wishes our pool had that) and the houses and landscaping (I drove through one day) are great, well kept up, decent lot sizes. It's also in a great location, I believe they are unincorporated so they have lower taxes, and the development will be slated for the new elem. school, slated to open next year. Not to mention the golf course looks very nice--my husband would like it.

It is considered a nice neighborhood, have never heard of any problems at all there.

Default Split

Part is in Mecklenberg, part is Union. I was told the part with sidewalks is Meck. So taxes and schools are different.

Joanchris...we are getting a 2nd pool. From all I have heard it will be on the side where they are putting the entrance on Stevens Mill across from Shannamara and will be alot nicer pool than the one we currently have. The entrance off Mill Grove will be the back of our neighborhood and the one off Stevens Mill will be the front entrance I believe. Being across from Shannamara it should be alot nicer.

Ok, good to know! As far as schools, this person is a teacher in Union County so he will be able to put his schools in Union no matter what, but taxes can be a big issue!

I was hoping it was going to be a lot more recreational, especially since the sign on Stevens Mill Rs says "Crismark, Swim Cluib" or something like that.
Just wish we could get some cold water for the pool.....My daughter wanted to go today and I just hate the thought of going all the way there to swim when the water is no cooler than my hot tub!

Know what ya mean. But with the water restrictions and the 100 degree days I don't expect it any time soon.
I spoke with one of the people on the pool committee and she was saying they did request all the bells and whistle for the new pool. They are also going to build tennis courts. I haven't heard of anything else, although she did tell me that once the development is 75% built out, the HOA can take over from the developer and homeowners in the community will have more say in what we get. The are working on a neighborhood watch right now. I encourage you to get involved and tell your neighbors to as well. There are alot of things I love about our neighborhood, but some things I would like to see different as well, like the nicer swimming pool, a childrens play area, nicer landscaping, etc.

you live there right now?

So, the other post says they are only 75% developed, so are they planning for more homes then?

Thanks,

dawn

Oh, there's room for many more houses, on my street the houses are almost all finished, but the next 2-3 streets over there are only streets and empty lots, then there's a whole new section where they're just putting in the steets (dirt still). The rest of my section is Crismark homes, then at least some, maybe all of the new section will be Westport homes....don't know if Dublin is building any more in the new section.
