Stumbled upon this station tonight. Its available in HD too, channels 115 and 1115 on Time Warner Cable. Did some digging and I see we're getting it because of the 9/11 anniversary. All you NY'er's will love it, its like News 14 here, nothing but New York news all day long!!

Press Release: Time Warner Cable Offers Customers Exclusive 9/11 Programming Through Sunday | Time Warner Cable | East

"As America recognizes the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Time Warner Cable is offering customers exclusive programming focused on the events of September 11, 2001, on both News 14 Carolina and NY1, Time Warner Cable’s local news channel in New York City. NY1 was available on TWC's digital tier for several months after 9/11/2001. Come to think about it, I wonder why they can't make it a regular channel--it is owned by TWC, so there wouldn't be any increased costs other than sat transmission.

Per TWC people will need to call in and place a request for the channel to become permanent. Based on the amount of requests, they would review, and determine if the channel would be considered. However they indicated there are no guarantees.

When I lived in NYC about the only time we ever watched NY1 was on New Years eve when for about 10 min before and after 12 all they had were Time Square shots with out any annoying commentary or idiot guest hosts

I see we're still getting this channel. Not sure how long it will last, but it would be cool if they did end up making it permenant.
