We are moving to the Providence Country Club area in December (so excited) and have two kids interested in ballet. We are really NOT interested in the competitive dance environment that exists at some studios and are instead looking for more straight forward dance classes with an emphasis on form.
Does anyone have recommendations?
We really prefer to be closer to home if possible.
Open Door is a great place in Plaza Midwood. Their only issue is the studios are small. But atmosphere is like a school of the arts. I'm not a fan of the competition dance either and here I don't feel that is their main focus. They also use a real piano in the ballet classes which is like what a true school would use.
There's a dance school right by PCC in the shopping center at the intersection of Providence and Ardrey Kell. Haven't been there personally, but have heard good things.

Yes, it's in the Rea Vilage shopping center. Miller Street. Great place.
It looks like one of those competition dance studio I believe OP said they weren't looking for. It may be a good place, never been there. I don't think they would have adult classes so I guess I would never go there, but as soon as I hear it's in a shopping center it makes me think of Dance Moms. I think was the name of that show. I like places that give more of a school of the arts atmosphere to the dance studio.

Reason: Wrong word after prof reading.

Two of my kids went and they didn't compete. I actually don't care about addresses or where it is. I was more concerned with the teachers, and the two we had were fantastic.
As for Dance Moms, Abby's place is a stand alone studio, not a mall in sight. Sorry my suggestion wasn't up to your standards but at least the OP has options.
