I'm hoping to take my dad for a trip up to the mountains/Blue Ridge Parkway to look at fall colors. He's not able to walk much, so I'd like to find a restaurant that would offer nice views.

I was thinking somewhere along the Blue Ridge would be nice, but am open to other suggestions as well. I know a lot of hotels along the parkway have restaurants, maybe one of them would be good, but I'd like a specific recommendation if we're bothering to drive all the way there.

Requirements are:
1. Good views of mountains/fall colors
2. Easy accessibility to restaurant (close parking, not too many stairs)
3. Preferably within 3 hours of Charlotte
4. Doesn't need to be fancy, but a decent meal and not super casual

Thanks!

Grove Park Inn.

The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa - Welcome

I forget what it's called, maybe the Sunset Terrace, but one of their restaurants looks out over a beautiful valley.

Canyons in Blowing Rock is not an extremely fancy place, but does have great food. And the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains can't be beat. About 2.5 hours away, and it is close byto other fun stuff to do in Blowing Rock and along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Canyons of the Blue Ridge Restaurant & Bar: Blowing Rock, North Carolina

The Chalet Restaurant at the Switerland Inn in little Switzerland, has a beautiful valley view. It is near Spruce Pine right off the parkway - about 2 1/2 hours from Charlotte.

+1 on Mt Mitchell State Park.

View from our table

Canyons @ Blowing Rock also is a good recommendation and a fun drive up 321.

The easiest with a less grandiose view would be Lastrada @ Lake Lure (~ 1.5 hrs away).
