I lived in Rochester for the first 25 years of my life, moved here 3 years ago.

As least you'll be back before the long, miserable Rochester winter.

Good luck!

OP, I was born in Rochester, Western New York can be a beautiful place when it's not snowing out I'd recommend looking up a state park called Letchworth State Park, and exploring it this weekend.

Congrats on the job, Saunders! Great idea topchief had about looking into that state park. Maybe seeing some of the beautiful scenery will keep you from being homesick for NC. How much longer will you be in NY? Maybe you will be back home in time to enjoy some of the Fall weather. Leaves have not started much of a color change yet so maybe there will be some around for you by the time you return.

Tell ya what - we could sure post some photos for you!

Something else - why don't you let us know what being out of state has made you realize you miss about being "back home?" Sometimes, it is good for us to remind ourselves of the things we would miss if we left the region.

I will go first.

When I leave Charlotte, I find myself missing . . . the beautiful red shouldered hawk that hangs out in my back yard.

You got to try Savoia Bakery on Clifford Ave. Its my favorite place in Rottenchester.

Enjoy the snow.

Former western NY resident, never going back.
