Got to be safe and in the east area.
Thanks.

Contact your community police officer in your CMPD division and talk with him or her. That person will be a good source to tell you where and when to walk. Regardless, I encourage you to get a canister of pepper spray (10%) or a stun gun to fend off potential predators of the two-legged and four-legged kind - unless you have a CCW permit. Then, use that option for personal protection. Remember that no area is 100% safe when we remember the man who was killed by a robber in broad daylight on the south side of town in the so-called "rich" side of town.

As the days cool down, critters, snakes that is, will go to the warm pavement in evening to stay warm. Copperheads seem to have a particular knack for this.
This does not mean do not walk, just keep your eyes open. Please, do not curtail walking but just need to be alert.

What do you mean by 'east'? There are greenways & parks, neighborhoods... Depends on where you are.

Practically every neighborhood has an accessible park for walkers, bikers, etc. I personally like walking through neighborhoods, ie. Elizabeth, Myers Park, Dilworth, Freedom Park, etc.

If you don't mind driving to where you'll walk, or taking a very short bus trip, the Country Club and Plaza-Midwood neighborhoods are both very walkable, and you'll see lots of people out, walking with their families & dogs. You can get to Country Club by going up Eastway toward Shamrock - make a left on Townsend or Sandhurst to get to Country Club Dr. It's around Clark, Ventosa & Airlie that I always see folks out walking or in their yards. You can get to Plaza-Midwood from there - just go to Matheson to Mecklenburg to Belvedere, and anywhere along Belvedere you'll see folks walking & enjoying the evenings. Midwood Park is also right there, lots of families go there. You can also get to Plaza-Midwood by going toward town on Central, then making a right on Chatham, Fulton, or The Plaza.
Kilborne Park is not far from Eastway & Central, but I honestly don't know the safety of that area - I used to have friends that lived off Bonneville Dr., across Kilborne Dr. from the park, and at that time, it was a very active family neighborhood, but that's been 15 years ago, and things can change in that time. I suppose you could look at the crime history of that area, and check things out to see how they feel, while of course, taking precautions.
This isn't close to you, but a few days ago, we went to the dog park at Frazier Park. I was a little nervous, because of a recent child abduction attempt there, but it was fine, with plenty of families and dogs. We even went through the tunnel under 4th street, which was much more scary in my mind than it was once we were in it. My point in including that, is to say, so many more areas are accessible and fine to be in, in Charlotte, than some folks would have you believe. Take precautions, be aware, but don't let people who've never been in a location scare you away from going there, unless there's a history of violent, random crime there. There was one kidnapping attempt at Frazier Park, by an out-of-his-mind drunk guy; the chances of that happening again are almost nil. But I know there are people who will never set foot in that park because of it.
