I just created this thread to say thank you to everyone who has posted to any of my many threads inquiring about Charlotte. I finally was able to make a trip to the area. I drove around uptown, went to Marshall park, Regal Cinemas, went to Fostersgrille in the Concord area, got some chicken from Bojangles, walked around Concord Mills, went accross the border into Fortmill, SC, then decided to check out Rock Hill and Tega Cay, SC. Went to Windjammer park in Tega Cay and walked along the shore of Lake Wyle. Tega Cay was really beautiful, I loved uptown Charlotte, it seemed farily easy to tell those who were natives like the lady at the front counter at the hotel, the ticket booth at the theatres or the main guy at Fostersgrille in Concord. They were very friendly and had a noticeable Southern accent. Especially the lady at the Mcdonalds in Fortmill. Not used to hearing "your welcome, thank you, come back again" all at once lol. I felt soo comfortable there and everybody was just soo great that I felt right at home and didn't want to leave; Unfortunatly I had to. I do just want to say for all those NOT from the South Who tend to put your stereo types and false images of what the region is like. They are far from backwards, most are friendlier then up north, they have many restaurants, many places to shop, beautiful landscapes, great weather, nice parks...i'm of a mixed race and didn't sence any more racism then I may experience in Ohio. Actually it was interesting to me that it seemed it may actually be worse in my state. Or at least more forward and in your face. Honestly If I'd rather take the silent racist over the hostile and outspoken one anyday. No more trucks (Once again probably even less) then I would see in the midwest... what can I say other then the assumptions and stero types some people have on the people and the region are far from acurate. I plan and hope to relocate to Charlotte soon to attend UNCC and i'm even planning my next trip to Nashville, TN.
