Hey, just wondering if there was a place online to find info about discharging a firearm in Mecklenburg, Lincoln, and Davie county (the places I have safe and available land to to shoot on)? I am thinking it's county-specific (I.E. how far away to be from a residence and all), but I'm seeing nothing on it. All I found is a Lincoln County article about regulating it to over 500 ft from a residence, but that got rejected. So basically nothing. GRNC.org had pretty much no info on the matter, and I can't find anything on the county websites. Besides calling the sheriff's office (which I plan to this week), where can I look to find the info?
Looks like it is not legal in the city of Charlotte.
Correct. And it looks like what you posted referencing § 160A-189 only applies to cities. I think the original idea of contacting the Sheriff is a good once just in case there are county wide ordinances but I don't think there are.
Check the DNR site for hunting regulations. That might cover situations outside city limits.
