Default Northwest School of the Arts High School

We know of a family moving to Charlotte and hoping to use public schools. Their daughter have been an avid percussionist for years and is very musically inclinded. They are considering applying to NW School of the Arts.
They are from a large city and not bothered by the location of the school. BUT, they do want a quality education. She will be in 11th grade and needing AP level work.

Anyone have any experience with NW and the quality of AP classes? Are the disruptive or on task? In terms of the music program, how strong is the band program? She would want to do marching band and was told they have no sports and hence no marching band, but that she could march at her neighborhood school. So she is most concerned about band class within the school.

Thanks!
T
