My son's bike fell against my immaculate 2011 Ford Fiesta and put 2 scratches down to the bare metal.

Should I take it to a detailer or to a body shop?
Any recommendations in Mooresville?

I've tried touching up scratches on previous vehicles and ended up with ugly blobs.

Your insurance company may pay for it...
You should be able to take it to the dealership you purchased the car from to have it fixed.

A detailer may not fix a scratch that's down to the metal. They can fix a small dent that doesn't require paint, or bring in a paintless dent repair guy, as they did when I had my car detailed a few months ago. BUT they may be able to use touch up paint better than you can.

Many dealerships don't so their own body work any more. They farm it out to another company.

I would:

1. Call or go see Brian at Dr Detail on 74 near Sardis Road North. Tell him Norm with the blue GTO (pics are on their FB page) sent you. See what he thinks.

2. Find a paintless dent repair guy. He may be able to pop the dent if any, and do the touch up.

3. Check with the dealership for a quote, and to see if they do the work or find out who they send the work to.

Be sure to ask what you can expect when "they" are done with your car. I had a couple spots on my car that didn't come out perfect, but I knew they may not when I discussed the work prior to having it done.

Good luck with that. Please let us know what worked for you.

EDIT-I just saw you're in Mooresville. I don't have any recommendations for that area. But Brian may be worth the trip to the big city.

I've used Lake Norman Paint and Body a couple of times after people rear ended me, and they've always done a great job for me. The work was always done when promised and they have a car rental company right across the street that they work with if you need a rental. Not sure how competitively they're priced since the insurance co. always picked up the tab. They're on Statesville Road in Cornelius.

if it's down to the metal it needs paint work - if it needs paint work it needs to go to a body shop - some dealers have body shops, others have shops the recommend. - if there's no dent or a small dent, smaller than your fist, plan on paying about 300-500 bucks for repairs.

Wow, they're really out in the boonies.
So the work they did was invisible?
