Hi,

I am a 40 year old African American woman looking into relocating to Charlotte. I lived there in 1992-93 for less than a year. I have not returned to the city since I left, so I can't imagine what it is like now. I currently live in Altamonte Springs, FL where I have lived for the past 11 years. I am one of the bless ones in today's housing market, I sold my house this summer after having it on the market for two months. I too am considering relocating to Charlotte in June.

I considered Raleigh/Durham, but something about the city just did not click for me.

If you have any advice on what the city (Charlotte) is like for African Americans please share.

Hi Teresa,

I am AA and when we came here from the NorthEast to buy a home we were treated with utmost courtesy and respect by ALL races of people here. I was expecting different since I was told things about the South that I have found are not true. Charlotte is a very welcoming place. The quality of live here is to me and my family, very high.

I was just in Charlotte this weekend and EVERYONE was really nice. There were many different races, but everyone really seemed to be at ease with each other. I loved the visit and made a final decision to move there.

need the name of a realtor or an agent. I plan to relocated from Massachusetts to Charlotte. I've visit Charlotte twice this year for 5-7 days. I really like the city. Love the people. Would like to rent for about a year then buy a home. I viewed a number of rental property in Charlotte, Hunterville, Concord, Matthews. I prefer to rent in Charlotte but I know eventually I may decide to buy my home somewhere else in NC because Charlotte NC doen't have much land with the home.

Yes, you are likely to get more land with you home outside of Charlotte city limits, and even more so when you buy a piece of property then custom build. You can do this in the surrounding counties: Gaston, Union, Lincoln, Rowan, Cabarrus, and Iredell.

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

I started this thread seeking out information about relocating to Charlotte and have encountered so many people looking for the same. I figure that it would be great if we all shared information with one another to make our relocation easier. I guess we could private message each other or just post info via this thread. Let me know if anyone is interested in doing this and if so let's make it happen. It would be great for us to work together to help each other in realizing our dreams. I am sure many of us will need job information, neighborhood information, church directories, hair salons, physicians, realtors and many other bits of information and we can really help each other.
