Default suggestions for communities for my inlaws...

hello! my inlaws are thinking about moving to charlotte to be closer to us.

their price range is $250-350,000.
minimum squarefootage of 2,400.
they would buy a townhome if it were big enough, or single family.
4 bedrooms.
community with pool and rec center.

they don't want to live "out in the sticks" as they say...and they like south charlotte, but not too far out into waxhaw (family friends live in the reserve, but they think that's too far out from everything). so maybe somewhere near ballantyne/blakeny/stonecrest/arboretum areas??

if anyone can offer up some suggestions for neighborhoods to check out i would appreciate it! thanks in advance!

This would be my top pick!

Ardrey Commons - sounds just like what they are looking for.

What do you mean by rec center?

There are a lot of options in that price range -- kingsley, southampton, ardrey woods, stone creek ranch, weston glen, reavencrest, providence pointe, somerset, and hunter oaks to name a few...these all have pools, but again, not sure what you mean by rec center. Best of luck

Do they want to be in an over 55 community? If so, they should check out Sun City on 521 in SC. Its not far from Ballantyne and that whole area is booming.

The amenities seem unbelievable there

I agree, Sun city is great (my parents live there ) but my concern with that was that it may be too far out for them, since it is pretty far down 521. Great community though, my parents love it!

thanks! yeah sun city looks great, but they have an 18 year old son who will live with them when not away at college. i will definitely pass along the suggestions! when they get more serious about it they will go with a realitor to check it all out. right now they are toying with the idea. oh i think by rec center they mean like a community house...usually near the pool, etc, there is probably a better name for it. thanks again!

Lacey, I know you will find more of a Clubhouse feeling in an adult 55 community than in a regular community...like most developments we looked at there was a clubhouse but didn have like billiards or events that they did in the clubhouse...they might want to be a bit more active my parents live in Nj in adult community and omg how they love it...they are always busy all the time..Just some insight to a Funtional Clubhouse and a clubhouse that is rented out for parites and such...Cureton has a fitness facility in there clubhouse which most dont...

I believe Sun City will work, even with the son -- he will only be there a few months out of the year, and it really is convenient to a lot of shopping though not on top of a mall or anything. There is also A LOT of retail moving in that direction as well.
