My husband and I will be relocation to Charlotte in the next 6 months due to a job transfer.
-We would like a 2 story all brick home.
-Prob 4 bedroom/2.5 bath-- we want somewhere for our college-age children to come home to- aroound 2500-3000 square feet
-Very small lot-we have a large lot/on a lake now and do not want all the yard work.
-would like to spend no more than $350,000--but will if the right house comes along.
I will be working with a realtor but would greatly appreciate any additional information on areas/neighborhoods to look.

Since this is a very large area, geographically, we can help you best if we know where the job is located (part of town, if in Charlotte or town, if located outside of Charlotte).
Look in the Dilworth or Elizabeth neighborhoods. Both well established, beautiful, inner-city (near your work) neighborhoods. You should be able to find something in that price range, mainly due to the decrease in home prices. I'm pretty sure Myers Park would be out of the question price wise, although very convenient to uptown. Oh, maybe the Sedgefield area too. I know you can find something in your price range there. It's the neighborhood next to, and south of Dilworth. Both are near the light rail line.

Dilworth and Elizabeth - not at that price range for a that size of house. In Dilworth, for 2500 SF that is fixed up, you're talking $500K min and often much higher. Elizabeth is probably similar, but less inventory on the market.
Sedgefield is convenient, but doesn't have elementary and middle schools at the moment. Some of the tear downs there are getting pricey even with the school situation...
Thanks for the information--Looking more for a newer home--but do not want new construction as we have built 2 homes in the past and do not want to do that again.
More in the suburb areas- in a "community" atmosphere.
I appreciate your help--it is always nice to get opinions from people who do not have a $ stake in my choice.
Or look in Fort Mill, SC, specifically the Bailiwick community along Pleasant Road. Most of the homes there are all brick and are within your price point and other parameters. Here's a link to start with:
