What part of the 30 minute commute did y'all not understand?

I am in west Huntersville, and there is no way I can even get to B of A stadium in 30 minutes in rush hour and there is no way in hades he is getting there in 30 minutes from freakin' SC.

Settle down - I do it every day and it averages just under 30 minutes. How would you know any different if you're in freakin' Huntersville?

Just a thought. Won't both Davidson and areas in the far south of the county and Tega Cay be an easy commute once we get lightrail?

IMO, it depends on how you define easy. It would make my commute from Tega Cay take longer - without firsthand knowledge I'm estimating 10 extra minutes to get over to the station, park and catch the train, and then another 5 minutes to walk from the train uptown. In exchange I could save gas, wear and tear and parking money uptown. If those were the only considerations, it wouldn't be worth it because the commute is an easy 30 minutes now. I may do it anyway just to be green and to get a chance to read instead of drive. That's how I define easy!

Get a grip. I've lived in Davidson, Cornelius, now Huntersville, Ballantyne, near the Arboretum, University area and SouthPark. Plus I drive to clients everyday for a living. There is no person on here better equipped to make assertions on traffic than me on a variety of areas, and unless you are leaving at 9:30am and going 80MPH, you are not leaving Davidson, getting to the stadium area, parking and at your desk in 30 minutes. Quit dreaming, and save your hostility.

I was not being hostile (notice the smileys) and even a Moderator expressed a hope that you all will quit posting random areas that are 30 miles from the dude's workplace.

Come on kmway...read what you just wrote. In defense of megassel these are not just random thoughts or times times that they are throwing out there. This person does this commute throughout the week (Tega Cay, SC to uptown Charlotte, NC). If you go back to what the OP stated...they were looking for something that was within a 30-40 minute commute. That was exactly what was offered. Megassel suggested Tega Cay and nothing more...if anyone seems a little hostile of late...that would be you. While you have some great input on this site please keep in mind that there are other's here that can also help out too.

For example...if the OP is going to be making $150,000 a year...you, and yours can move in with with my family and I, we'll do your cleaning and shopping, and whatever else you need taking care of...and heck I'll even carry you into work piggyback if necessary. Oh by the way...I live in Tega Cay, SC too.

None of that changes the fact that it is not 30 minutes from Davidson to the stadium but I appreciate your point of view.

I'm not sure anyone has made the assertion that Davidson is 30 minutes from uptown - certainly not me, as I would have no firsthand knowledge of commuting from the North. Since you havent commuted from South Carolina, please recognize that others may know more than you do on that subject. All I set out to do was respond to what the OP asked for - something 30-40 minutes from work with good schools and a small town atmosphere. Tega Cay fits that bill.

LTC - thanks for the support

Cotswold is a great area. It's area 4 and we're part of 28211. It's "in-town" and right next to pricey Myers Park and Eastover. It's 4 miles from our house to uptown. While it's not "cheap", you can definitely get a good house for $500K (4 bedrooms/3 baths), yard. The prices are higher on the south/west side of Randolph Rd (Eastover Elementary) than on the north/east side of Cotswold (Cotswold Elementary). It's a wonderful mix of in-town and older-home suburban living.

We love the people here, too. A nice mix of transplants and people who grew up in the neighborhood. We have a newly built neighborhood school and feed into Myers Park High.

We feel so lucky to have found this neighborhood when we relocated.

Since it's not about commuting from South Carolina and it's already established that Davidson to Uptown isn't doable under 30 minutes. Seems that point is closed.

However in regards to getting to uptown from Tega Cay,SC it is very doable in under and around 30 minutes. I've got plenty of friends who do it and have ridden along a couple of times during the morning commute.

Anyway good luck.

Yes...that is EXACTLY what we were able to purchase having moved back from Union County........ We sold our house in Charlotte for 380 and then purchased for 580- 30 something year old house- 1 acre, and 1.2 hour from NYC. I would love if we could move back and buy something for about 550K...i would have my brand new dream house-
