Gee, the process of buying furniture sure has changed over the years! It use to be that what you wanted in a design and color was readily available within a week or two maximum. Today your told it will take 6 to 8 weeks to have it built. I remember when delivery was also included verses being told that it will cost extra. Are all furniture stores in area the same in this respect? We are looking for readily available good quality but not excessively expensive Transitional LR furniture. Does any one have any good suggestions?
I really like Tyndall Furniture. They have a small showroom in Pineville but a much larger one in Indian Land (just minutes past Ballantyne). Also one in Blakeney. They carry quality furniture at reasonable prices.
Take a look at Merinos Furniture in Mooresville. Huge warehouse of everything from floor coverings to furniture for all your rooms. As with everything, just because they say they charge for delivery doesn't mean you can't negotiate that out. Start to walk and they'll take it wherever you want it most likely for free or significantly reduced.
Whats your price range? We usually drive up to Hickory and stop at all the furnature outlets. Have gotten some great deals from the Bernhardt Outlet (Bernhardt - Furniture Outlet)
Couches for $600-$700 all good quality American made stuff.
There are also some outlets and interesting places around South Blvd. Charlotte if you are up for an adventure. My grandmother was here (she used to be an interior decorator) and we stopped by a sketchy place off of South Blvd. and there was a truck unloading furniture. We bought two nice dining chairs that she estimates would sell retail for $200 each for $40. Not sure if they were "hot" or why they were getting rid of them so cheaply
Thank you to everyone for all of the input. Our most recent scant took us down to the Smiths Corners area and to Lazboy and Havertys. We are new to the area and appreciate having the opportunity to ask the locals what worked best for them. Tyndall, Waxhall Factory Outlet and Merinos help considerable. I can't say that I'd be willing to frequent a shady looking facility that could possibly be selling hot furniture. American made is what we're after and we are comfortable spending $2k on a sofa / love seat combination. I didn't realize that one could negotiate the delivery charge. That makes a lot since with the economic picture and the competition. Our next outing will include your recommendations and it is greatly appreciated. Thank you once again .....
Just make sure you have entire day to check it out (and conformable shoes).
In our case, we had 3 different models for a dinning set found from their website. Once we've seen each of them, we knew which one we wanted.
Impossible not to find something on their store, the website is very helpful as well.
I like the furniture factory outlet in Waxhaw also. The stuff isn't "hot" he just liquidates which is very common, especially in the land of furniture. His building is low overhead to keep his costs down. I have bought many pieces here made from the "major" factories like Broyhill for 1/2 the cost. There is a tremendous markup on furniture.
