You're right about Pittsburgh though. This would be CLT's fate and it would be a step backwards for us that would take years to recover from unless someone like Southwest stepped up right away and bought the CLT gates/routes that DL/USA would divest in merger. Looking at SW hubs, they could use one in the southeast US.
That's what their purchase of Airtran was for. Airtran's ATL hub.

The thought of having to connect in Atlanta on Delta makes me shake my head in disgust. Both are a delay nightmare and Hartsfield is crowded every second of every day it's in operation. It would be a travesty if this happens.

Might as well get ready for it.

I heard this last week, but this is not good news for me. DH works for US Airways, which is why we are relocating to Charlotte (finally) next month. If, and this is a BIG if, this happens, it looks like I will be moving to Atlanta (they will never hold on to both HUBs). Crap.

SWA does not really use a hub system; I guess BWI and MDW are sort of "hubs" for that airline, but their system was built much more on a point-to-point type of system, rather than the traditional hub system used by most major U.S. airlines.

Yes we are, something Charlotte will NEVER attain.
