Advertisements

With ALL of the car dealership commericials that run in this market (I swear it's every other commercial or more) on TV. I'd be interested to see if they stopped running them for 1 month how much the dealerships sales would go down if at all?

I'm tired of watching these commericals and sometimes wonder how much of a difference they make on the dealerships sales? They must spend a fortune on advertising!!

That sounds like it should cover everything , along with the dealerships. Especially politics.

Agreed! The car commercials are ridiculous. While they do spend a good deal on advertisement, a large chunk of it is co-op money from the car makers.

The other night we were watching something and a JIF peanut butter commercial came on. I commented that more of these types of commercials sure would be pleasant.

But hey, I will just be glad when the law takes effect and they can no longer use "dynamic range" to blast us with while pimping whatever it is they are selling.

I think with election season coming up this will have an effect on the amount they have. That would be an interesting time to see what their numbers are. I suspect it would be no different.

The worst one is: "We treat you like family because we ARE family."

Sadly, I don't even know which dealer it is so clearly their barrage of ads aren't working. Why do I care if you're family? Do I really think you're going to treat me like one of your own? Would I want you to?

We hit "mute" the minute the car or any screaming (J.C. Penny) commercial comes on the screen. I don't respond to advertisers who think they have to scream to get their message across. It's always been a turnoff and would not buy from that company. Some of this is about dealer/owner ego - they like to see themselves on TV and the TV ad sales people play to the dealer's vanity to sell spots. Dealers/Owners get played and customers pay the cost of advertising when and if they buy a vehicle.

Stations sell ads cheapest in package deals. There are different ranges of the package deals. When you see the same advertiser constantly they have bought a package deal.

This recent JC Penny commercial is the absolute worst! I've shut my TV off when it comes on and find myself reading or doing something more productive. Maybe I should thank them!
