Does anyone have suggestions of store chains that are selling the old 100 W light bulbs in town. I absolutely HATE the new type that our government has mandated since the start of this year. The color is off, it hurts my eyes and makes my living room environment horrible. I can't imagine every light in my house having this type of light.

Anyone else experience this?? I can't believe that we don't have the option to buy them for the future. I need to stock up on the ones they are phasing out. The 60W to be phased out in 2013 =(

Awesome. I'm going to start doing the same. Yeah, I'm weird, I like the old standard ones.. I feel like an 80 year old man stuck in his old ways and not liking the government dictating my light bulb choices.

I loaded up on the old bulbs in December, good for years , I bought them at Home Depot, not sure if they still sell them. Another example of Governmenty over stepping...

I also stocked up on GE bulbs before the BS kicked in!

I should start looking around some more though. There's one size I found I didn't buy.

It's reverse psychology... people hate the government so much all they have to do is tell you what they love to ensure people run out and get the opposite.

This way their won't be a ton of old bulbs in inventory...

Did anyone really "love" old light bulbs 5 or 10 years ago like they do now?

I am not a fan of Govco overstepping their bounds, but I have converted to warmer CFL's in my home and they have paid back their investment so I'm actually saving money.

IMO just from what I see, LED technology will "jump" CFL's in residential application. The problem w/LED's right now is that the LED chips don't have the "punch" in terms of lumen output yet in alot of cases, and the upfront costs don't justify the payback.

However, like everything else, over time costs will come down and they will be in higher demand.

Can't help OP, since I haven't looked (I have a stockpile) but I have a few comments.

Regular CFLs don't work in dimmable lamps, which most of mine are. So I'd have to pay 3x-5x as much per bulb as a standard CFL for those lamps.

I put CFLs in the can lights when I redid my kitchen ceiling 8 years ago. Those lights are far and away the most used in my home. 4 of the 6 are still working fine. OTOH, the 2 I replaced, have already been replaced. Newer CFLs don't seem to hold up like the older ones do. The same goes for some of the other ones in my home, including the freebies from Duke Power. I've gone through half of those in a couple years due to premature failure.

The light is different on many CFLs. I put the equivalent CFLs in my garage and took them out a couple days later. They never got as bright, and were slow to get to full brightness, especially in the cold.
