need to see the forest through the trees on this issue...
Did you read my post above yours? I said in there, as I have many times in the past, that the Bobcat front-office has been pretty bad at evaluating talent and nearly inept the entire time they've been in existence.

My point is, without both things (a top pick this year AND the ability to bring in top talent as FA's), Charlotte will probably never be ultra-competitive (actually competing for championships, not just making the playoffs) because the front office lacks the ability to identify good talent deeper in the draft.

By your reasoning, you are assuming Anthony Davis is going to be a HOF like Kobe or Lebron or possibly Blake Griffin (Because he is going to be the #1 pick) and the team that gets him will be ultra competitive.

That doesn't hold water in the real world.

Anyway teams who win championships get there by trades and smart management. Look at the history.

I don't know really what your beef is..the Bobcats have/had opportunities to build a very good team with or without a #1 pick.

No, I've actually said, either in this thread or another on here about the Bobcats, that I'm not sold on Anthony Davis at all as a legit #1. I'm not necessarily talking about this years draft class although this draft is deeper than I think most are, just not with that sure fire #1 like you get every few years or so.

The Bobcats have done nothing, that I can tell, to build a good team. I really think we are saying the same thing, just in a different way.

So who is your number #1?

Anthony Davis is a defensive beast. Loads of hustle. Injury free. There is no way he doesn't become a very solid starter. The other big men in the draft haven't been to same level/consistency like Davis has been

They had built a decent team in 2009-10. The team was 1-2 players away from being competitive/out of the first round (mainly a starting PF since Diaw is and was terrible) and then they traded off anyone of worth the following season (for practically nothing but cap room) and didn't re-sign Felton (a carolina native).

Now they are back to square one...

ncopus - Davis will probably be the #1 pick. He is a great defensive player and would add a lot to the Bobcats or whomever should get him. However, I don't believe he's a true franchise type player you'd hope to get with the #1 pick. Very, very solid player though.

Just looking at the Bobcats draft history will tell you they struggle with identifying talent. I really liked Walker/Bismack picks this year though, we'll see how those pan out.

The Bobcats are not even that high up the ladder.
They are below square 1/ step 1.
They are flat on their backs on the cement and barely able to find a pulse. They were a better team in their first year of existance.
That should not be said of a team only in their 8th year.
The Charlotte Hornets in their worst year from back in the day would run roughshot over this Bobcat "team". I am not even sure the Bobcats could be .500 in the NBDL.

Nice article in the CO today about Jordan changing the image of the bcats. There are a dozen pages of comments with the majority being change the stupid name or get the Hornet name back. Clearly people aren't too jazzed on the bcat name.

Michael Jordan seeks to restore Charlotte Bobcats' image

Excellent win over the Magic tonight. I was actually impressed with how they played tonight. The crowd was pretty loud and hyped too. Winning changes everything.
