Hi,

I am currently interviewing for a job in Charlotte. They haven't made an offer, yet, but I have a really good feeling about the direction of things so far. They have indicated that they'd like someone to start ASAP once the offer is made / accepted. I'm starting to think about the move even thought it might be premature. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. And here are the answer to your questions in the pinned note:

When are you moving?

Not sure, but if it happens it will be soon and kinda quick.

Where are you coming from?

The last eight years I've been living in Northern VA (eight miles from DC.) Prior to that I lived in northern NJ right outside NYC.

Why are you moving?

If I get the job...

Where will you be working?

The company looks to be at 8 o'clock on the beltway around Charlotte

Coming from NYC and DC, I'm used to long commutes, but I'd love to cut back. Worst case 45 minutes - but I'd love it to be less.

What city are you moving to?

That's one of questions... I'm looking for recommendations for cities to look at. By cooincidence my brother moved to Mooresville about year ago. I'm talking to him about his thoughts, but he is still learning the area, too.

Have you been here yet?

I've visited my brother a couple of times - but that was before I thought I might move here.

Will you buy or rent?

I'm not sure. I own my house in VA and I'm underwater so I'll have to rent it out. I'd like to buy but I'm not sure if I can swing it. So I'm looking at both options. However, we have pets so that might be a problem.

If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend?

I'd like a single family house or worse case a townhouse. As I said, we have pets. I'd like to keep the cost down. Maybe 150 - 200K tops. But less is always better.

If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend?

Pet friendly is the key here...

Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up?

I need an elevator or first level. But I'm not really looking for a condo.

Are you married or single? Do you have children?

I'm single with a 12 year old daughter.

Do you prefer public or private schools?

Public

Do you have pets?

cats and dogs

Do you want or need a yard?

A yard is pretty important.

Do you have a car? or need public transportation?

I have a car.

Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet?

I used to live in Hoboken and Jesery City. I like both environments - as long as I have off-street parking.

My daughter is in 6th grade (12 years old) and she currently plays on a youth lacrosse leauge. She really wants to continue to play. My brother told me that Mooresville has lacrosse in high school, but she doesn't want to take a break to wait for high school. So I'd like to find a town that offers lacrosse at the jr high level - either through the school or through a league. I saw an old thread on here about youth lacrosse, but it was rather old. It had a lot things like... next year so&so is going to... or next season it's going to happen at such and such place. But that last post was 2008 or 2009 so if anyone has any updated information that would be great.

. Have you searched this forum for answers to your questions before posting a new inquiry?

Yes see Lacrosse comments above.

Unfortunately the ONLY thing I can answer is the youth lacrosse. There is a youth lacrosse league which includes middle school girls in the Huntersville/Davidson/Cornelius area which is a bit closer than Mooresville. I believe chyll.org is the website. I know that they do play at a park near me in Cornelius. As far as Cornelius and the potential job, I'm not exactly sure what 8:00 on the beltway is (and I'm assuming you're referring to the 485).

there is middle school girls lacrosse in Union County also some very good lacrosse club programs as well for the off season

the schools in Union County are very good
Union County is at the 6o'clock on the 485 expressway but sometimes the back roads are best to avoid the traffic problems
