Charlotte-based Extended Stay Hotels named former Starbucks CEO Jim Donald its new top leader. Donald was Starbucks CEO between 2005 and 2008 and mainly has a background in groceries. Extended Stay Hotels operates about 700 hotels in North America, including seven in Charlotte.
They are looking at past performances, bottom/top line revenues and cost efficiency. Because he produces results, they are looking to make an impact in their industry. I wondered who approached him...did they seek him out...or did he reach out. Good for him! Turning around a hotel industry is much harder than the other areas that he worked in.
He's the reason Starbucks was opening too many stores too fast. Hopefully he doesn't do the same with the Extended Stays.
