Being a parent of two children, I can empathize with all parents. The way each chooses to correct ther children has no affect on me and I do not get offended by hearing or seeing it. I haven't walked in their shoes. How is this affecting my Southern way of life? I like living in a place like Charlotte where everyone has a different accent and brings something different to the community. We all don't have to be the same. The way one chooses to live doesn't have to effect the way you live your life. I think folks that feel they have to have everyone around them be just like they are to be ignorant and mentally impaired.
Funny, I seem to remember you posting, on another thread, that you're from Portland, hmmmm. But, if you are in fact, a real Southerner and are implying that I am mentally impaired, well, then, congratulations, you're the first Southerner I've come across who posesses NO MANNERS!

No one is asking anyone to be "the same", just respectful.

I can relate although since they put the Starbucks in Sun Valley, I can't resist sometimes. But I just love the Salvation Army in Matthews, I get most of my clothes from there especially 50% Wed LOL And my last purse was actually Walmart last year. But I can say, I love it and it beats a $300 Coach.

Do any of you realize how petty this is?

And for the record, I love how people move here and think this is some genteel southern TOWN. Charlotte is a CITY (a fast growing one at that) with a mix of different people. If you want real southern life, move to a small town somewhere else. I am soo tired of these stupid petty topics (and most of them are from northerners or wherever who seem to have forgotten where they come from.) And guess what? Today at Walmart, I heard a southern women with a southern accent yelling and reprimanding her child. Oh my GOD! How could this be? A southern person... doing something like that? Impossible!!!!

And I agree with shannon70.

I was a transplant to Portland, like many are transplants here. We lived there for 10 years. I missed the South and moved back. In mentally impaired I am suggesting that some may lack tollerance for others who are different from them. To me that is a mental impairment and quite sad really AS for me not having manners, my manners are just fine. I was taught to not judge others and treat folks the way I want to be treated. I lived in Portland for 10 years and it was the most left wing, liberal place you could think of outside California. I got along fine with those folks, I just missed the South.

Who said anything about me having a redneck image. I said the transplants coming into charlotte are helping the city shave it's redneck image and has been for years, thank god. The good 'ol boy mentality is losing ground thanks TO the transplants.

Fail #2...
