I give Harris Teeter good marks for running a clean store and not hiring trailer trash, thugs, and pregnant girls who haven't got on the programs yet, but their prices are really high. I only go there for a few items and only when I need something fast since there is one close to here. I'm not into couponing or one to wait on e-offers.
Charlotte really doesn't have any mid-range grocery stores like there was at one time. Winn-Dixie, Kroger, A&P-Save A Centers, Park N Shop, Colonial are all gone now. I guess there is Bilo and maybe Target, but everything else is concentrated on the high end or low end. Maybe it's a metaphor of America in general.
I buy some food on Amazon's subscription program now. It's convenient, free shipping, prices beat even walmart, no sales tax, lots more choice, and it's delivered right to the door. It's not for everything, but for things like peanut butter, it's perfect. They send an email when they are ready to ship the next shipment and you can easily change it if needed.

I've been thinking about getting into the Amazon deal. I disagree about not having mid-range groceries, there are plenty of Food Lions and even some Lowes.
Do these ads actually mention Harris Teeter by name? I've seen some new Walmart commercials recently but the only thing they say is "so and so drives all around town looking for the lowest prices, but she can find them at Walmart."
Nevermind, just saw the new one during the NCAA Tourney. They do mention HT and have a scrolling list of a bunch of items and the prices. At the end they give a website to compare that actually lists the addresses of the stores (it was the ones in Concord). I think they mentioned on the commercial that they were even comparing VIC specials but the fine print on the website doesn't really say that. It says they compared the prices on March 12th...that seems like a pretty quick film job.
There is something to be said for a clean store with a great selection of products. I love my Harris Teeter and will continue to shop there.
