Mississippi and Alabama...haha, ok. That leaves the booming metropolis' of Charlotte and Raleigh as well as their surrounding areas.

Florida is a mess and, unfortunately, I see NC quickly becoming that way.

At this point in time, yes. I travel all over the SE and I would not live anywhere else in the SE other than Charlotte. We have it all, and unfortunately, others are catching on! I do dread seeing what this place will be like in 15 years. I am scared it will become a miserable place due to overcrowding like Atlanta.

North Carolina is alot larger than Florida and Florida main growth is in the south part and along the coast and it has.
The middle of the state is wetlands and swamps only Disney decided that you can build on such terrain.
There over 600 miles from murphey to manteo and only 14 counties are having higher than average growth and 14 counties are loosing population.
so that leaves 72 counties that have normal growth rate.
Unlike Florida and other states we did not experience the housing bubble.
The current trouble in housing market across the U.S is good for us due to it will slow down growth probably back to normal.
I think Charlotte will slow down after year 2010 when most of the new construction and amenities are finish.
You cannot judge this state by city data posts or threads. Everyone who moves doesnt log into city data hopefully one day but not yet.
City Data is definite getting real popular I think it like google but you get live answers from people around the world and they help you lead you to the right place.

Perhaps I should have stated Charlotte and Raleigh / Durham? The growth has been ridiculous and I hope it does go to a normal level. I know I can not get the full picture from post counts but even in the article the thread is about it specifically mentions North Carolina. I do not see how this state can accommodate everyone without the quality of life seriously deteriorating.

Michelle- what do you think you'll learn that hasn't been discussed in the many threads you've participated in on this topic?

Thank you Miker.
This question is answered in every thread everyday.
Anyone familiar with this city knows we have world-class entertainment, art, shopping, eateries, community and civic activities, beautiful recreation, fantastic economy and jobs, beautiful homes, caring people, great location (mtn and beaches), great weather, and an overall great QOL.

I usually do not hang out on the Charlotte side. You stated you could only see yourself living in Charlotte. IMO, there are other cities in the south that meet this description. I was just curious.

this site is mainly about people looking for information of somewhere else so oviously it going to be newcomers or those who have a deisre or want knowledge of the area. If you dont like cake then hanging out in a bakery will not do you any good.
Since you have problem with people moving here then move to NC city that is not having such issues here some to consider
Spiveys Corner
Denton
La Grange
Williamston
Plymouth
Mt Olive the home of the Mt Olive Pickles
Marion NC
Elkin NC
Eden NC
Roxboro
