NTES is just okay.
I have 2 children at New Town Elementary. We came from another school in the district. NTES is a brand new school and a wonderful facility. The teachers are first rate and both my kids love their teachers. However, I can't say the same for the administration. Both my wife and I are terribly disappointed with how things are going there. We are committed to sticking out the school year, then evaluate if we are going to put our kids in private school. Right now we don't think that we will be returning to NTES.
Your mileage.....

Blackstone may have some nice resales and I think one spec home left. Full brick and have some large floor plans with and extra 3rd floor or walkout. If you don't mind brick-front only then Wesley Oaks-Spring Creek has some large (4000+ sqft) plans on decent size lots....many with a very big bonus room. There's several resales in the area also. Just a couple of the many to choose from in the area.

might be interesting to learn what's dissapointing. I figure it's a new school, brand new administration, they received a lot of the overflow from Wesley Chapel Elem. Everyone may just be seeming to get their legs and it may take a few years to get into the groove.

We have selected Weddington and Marvin. School system is very important. We have a second grader and a toddler. Looking to spend $450-$550,000. I like The Chimneys but my dh is disappointed at their price point not to mention the small lots. We are looking at The Reserve for resales since those homes are on larger lots. I like the lots there, but I am disappointed that it seems most of those homes are 4 bedroom without that extra bonus room(at least the ones we've viewd on Carolinahome.com). As far as Weddington- love Champion Forest(we are suckers for those 4 sided brick communities). looked at Hollister but we are not that crazy about the layouts. Also love Lake Forest Preserve but they seem to be a bit over priced in our opinion once you start adding up all the upgrades. We know all about the new schools in Marvin.. Should we be concerned with Weddington if we decide to buy there about the overcrowded schools or is it improving with the new schools being built? We have done as much research as we possibly can. We are excited about the move. Have mixed emotions since we will be leaving all the family in NJ not to mention so many wonderful friends.
Looking for feedback- in your opinion would you choose Weddington or Marvin. Pros/ Cons Thanks......

You cant go wrong in either town. I am a realtor from NY who moved to NC 3 years ago. You can check the school scores online and you will see they are fairly close. When you purchase your home PLEASE for your sake find a good Realtor. It is very easy to be overcome by the many large homes. You need some guidance before you buy. Remember Location, location, location. Never been truer than here in NC. I have many horror stories from people who relocated here and bought homes (large and beautiful) but definately did not get the most for their money. Bigger is not necessarily better.

So very well said..I was also a Realtor in Ny and NJ and cant agree with you more..bigger isnt always better...we have been here for a short time but after a year of research ive gotten to know some areas better than others but it always holds true...we chose where we are becuase of the schools and we just loved it here...both kids attend 2 brand new schools and well just from my experience here and what they are doing for my children I can say dh and I have been extremely happy and Quite surprised...

Hey,
I will be at your new home with Welcome Basket!! Let me know when you'll be arriving. Don't worry about the rest of the thread. Talked to Homeowners and they are very pleased with NTES.

it really becomes a personal choice when it comes to schools..I know a few that arnt happy either and the others are very happy...I also think people are entilted to their opinion since there child does attend the school..and everyone takes a difference experience than the next...Only because I love my schools doesnt mean the next person moving in will....

Yep brand new administration, with a ton of pretty stringent (and some really strange) rules. Totally a 180 from what we were used to at other school. No walking children to class, no young siblings for lunch visits. No communication with teachers except through email or written notices. Limited number of parents attending celebrations, no birthdays etc. All outgoing notes must be approved by the prinicpal. There's a pretty severe morale problem with the staff due to some of the policies put in place by the administration. I have 2 friends working there and both really are unhappy. The term "walking on eggshells" gets tossed out often. Parental involvement is not encouraged. PTA very cliquish and unapproachable. Most of the PTA committe heads were in place before school started without opening it up to volunteers and they come from mainly from 2 neighborhoods. I could go on, but it gets really depressing after a point. I suppose that it will get better in a few years after the current principal gets more experience, but it is too bad that good teachers, staff and parents that really want to be involved in their children's education, have to pay the price for his inexperience and inflexibilty
