We live in Waxhaw. Husband road races, auto x, and general "car days"- shows, auto fair etc. Kershaw is where Carolina Motor speedway is. GREAT track. Mooresville is about an hour north of us and the one in VA is a 3-4 hr drive.

What I am about to say is not to really be discussed, it is what it is. I do not condone making your own track BUT there are some phenominal back roads here in Waxhaw. That's all i'll say.

There's a drag strip near the NASCAR track. There's another out around Shelby or Boiling Springs. Racing is returning to the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Racing to resume at Cleveland County fairgrounds

Not to be the Debbie Downer here but, do a good bit of checking. With the closing and down sizing of so many Sprint Cup and Nationwide shops there is an overwhelming number of experienced people on waiting list. Not to say you can't get in, but it will be a tough task. A lot of them have moved into support industries too. The future doesnt look much better.
As for the automotive end. Times are tough too. I have friends that have been extremely busy for years that find themselves struggling to survive. Not to say you can't find something, just do your homework!
Now as far as race tracks, we have plenty, paved and dirt!
Good luck to you!
