If its anything like what happened to Forks, Washington...you might be wrong about that.

It's rare that something grabs all 3 of us, with such disparate ages & personalities, the way Hunger Games has. Harry Potter does, and Doctor Who does... not much else. We enjoy other things all together, but this story has really engaged us like hardly anything else has.
Well, they did do some filming on Lafayette St, in Uptown Shelby, so maybe some shops there will get some extra business. I don't think that anything will spill over to the rest of the county. The warehouses are private property. . .

Shelby is one of several locations. If it gets a few people jobs in restaurants & stores, great.

They filmed a bunch of this in Knight Theater I believe and also in and around uptown. The alley behind the Main Library got a lot of use

This is why Shelby will not get a big bounce from this. It's not a single destination, like Forks, WA. It's one of a group of locations. Visitors to Lafayette St might stop for lunch or go in a shop. They are not likely to go into the old courthouse to kill a couple of hours at the Earl Scruggs Center. It's not likely that any people making the pilgrimage will be suddenly drawn to move a business there to bring jobs.

Glad they are expecting fans to come visit.

I was in Baltimore when Blair Witch came out and those poor people in the little town of Burkittsville, MD were totally unprepared for the onslaught of fans that flooded their little town as a result.

Yup, the state devised a 4 day tour. Charlotte & Asheville make out best. They suggest that people stop for lunch or check out shops on Lafayette Street in Shelby. When they make the next movie, if they go back to Shelby & shoot something that tourists can gawk at, besides some privately owned warehouses, maybe something will come of it.
