Click on one of links at the bottom from Dallas

About 70 miles from DuPont is Shelby, a former cotton mill center used as the setting for the movie’s pivotal reaping scene. More than 300 members of the cast and crew descended on the small city last summer for filming and ended up frequenting the bars and restaurants along downtown’s Lafayette Street. This includes Pleasant City Wood Fired Grille, a spacious brick spot known for its personal-sized pizzas loaded with deluxe toppings.

It was actually the Levine Theater in the Duke Building that was in the film (unmistakable in a few scenes).

Is there really an "Uptown" Shelby?

Yes there is. Can I safely assume that you haven't been there?

correct.

I just think it's funny that another city/town is using the Uptown strategy.

My sister lives in a small town in South Jersey & their downtown is called Uptown.

Actually, Charlotte seems to waiver between Uptown & Center City. I wish that they'd settle on Center City.

I like Center City as well...

Uptown sounds so cheesy.

I like Center City because I'm used to it. Uptown sends a mixed mesage to me. Uptown in Philly hasn't been a nice place for decades, & Uptown tends to be used in much smaller places - perfect for Shelby. However if the concensus in Charlotte is Uptown, then Uptown it is.

never heard the term Uptown when I lived in Philly. It was Center City... 2000 to 2005.
