I was never so excited to cross the NC border on Saturday and see the bright yellow sun. It is truly depressing up there this time of year, and my husband and I made a pact, unless we have to go up there in the winter for an emergency, we will not return until spring!!
I just want you to know it does not hail in winter in the north.. otherwise I have no comment.

I beg to differ....We were in Morgantown WV and the hail was coming down like crazy on Saturday!!! I am sure that this was not the first time it has hailed up North in the winter...but then you do pretend to know everything about the weather everywhere.

I don't get the "back East" thing when NC is an Eastern Seaboard state. Those who say it seem to use "East" as a synonym for "Northeast" If you want to say "Back up North", fine, but when you're on the east coast, there is no such thing as "Back East" unless you mean the beach!

Default Moved here from San Diego

If you have children, this is a great place to live. I lived in San Diego and my daughter was in Pop Warner Cheer. In California, it was difficult getting other parents to help and communicate. The culture here in the South is much different...I was warmly embraced back in 2009 and still taken kin by the hospitality and general helpfulness of othe parents. The cost of living is affordable (compared to some other places like New Jersey and California). I am so comfortable here. The only thing I don't like about it here is the HEAT in July and August, other than that life has been great! No snow. Low cost of living. Low taxes.
