I moved here from Florida and day workers, mostly Guatamalen and Mexican were readily available to help out with yard work etc just for the day. Are there any areas around S. Charlotte (Ballantyne, SC State line) where they hang out waiting to get picked up for a days work? I need some trees planted and could use a hand.

Thanks.

This isn't a common practice here in Charlotte. Almost everyone and his brother seems to have their own "landscaping" company here though - I'm sure you may have seen a few in your neighborhood working on neighbors yards. I would suggest you look for one of those groups to help you out.

There use to be a place uptown but I cannot remember the place I was thinking where the old employment securtiy commision use to be and I am not sure where it is located now. Basically loads of people looking for a days work would show up at 5 a.m and contractors grab whoever had the skill.

I would love to. Any idea where I can find a couple of guys(American) that actually want to work to help me out?

Well, when we purchased trees that were too large and heavy for us to plant ourselves, the nurseries where we purchased them did the installation work. You could also check craigslist:

charlotte craigslist > household services: search for "landscaping"

The fact that you asked the question tells me you wouldn’t understand.
Day laborers are in this country ILLEGALY.
They are doing that kind of work because they can’t LEGALLY work in this country.
They do that kind of work to get out of paying INCOME TAXES.
There are plenty of AMERICANS ready willing and able to help you out they just aren't willing to work for nothing.
All you want is something for nothing. How about you try working for a third of your regular pay and see how well that works for you.

I can't believe that question was actually asked. If you want someone to plant trees for you, call landscapers. Get a few estimates, if cost is an issue and pick the lowest estimate. If the estimates are all too high, grab a shovel and start digging.
