We are thinking of retiring to one of the lakes near Charlotte, and are wondering what people's takes are on the country club neighborhoods.
We've seen the Palisades at Lake Wylie, and the Pointe and the Peninsula on Lake Norman. They all look very nice.
We play both golf and tennis so would love to join a club that has both. We are particularly active in tennis, so a vibrant social tennis scene would be a huge plus.
Last I heard was that The Palisades was having some financial difficulty (to say the least). If you're wanting nice courses, I'd go towards Lake Norman. I can't help you with tennis.
Old North State Club on Badin Lake is fabulous. It is one of the best golf courses in the state - nice tennis courts - and a nice marina.
